Chapter 275

Lompoc, CA

Here's to 2014

Posted on January 24, 2014 at 10:40 AM

This week we had our first official meeting in a few months. This last meeting we voted in this years officers. The big decision of the night revolved around switching up our meeting days. This was done for several reasons. The main one was to try to drum up more support for the chapter. It being winter not many wanna hang out in a cold hangar in the dark. We hope to also stimulate funds by providing a donation bbq after the meeting. The meeting will be on the third Sat of the month. this also aligns with display day and hopefully will stimulate more participation in that. As young Eagle coordinator at some point during the year I'd like to get a young Eagle Drive going. This hasn't been done in several years now

We've been throwing other ideas around as well

A ski Fly-In were everyone dons shorts and tee shirt sipping snow cones. <-- Um OK

Maybe next Airport Appreciation day make in an informal Fly In and provide Spaghetti, Mina didn't sound enthused about it ;)

Get some projects going. So far we got Janke painting the Lompoc letters on the Taxiway. At least it should hold until the taxi ways are slurry sealed.

As far as I can remember

Ed - President

John Turner - Vice President

TJ - Secretary

Ross Wetmore - Treasurer

Greg Janke - Project Coordinator

Brian Stevens - Young Eagle Coordinator

Brian Stevens - Web Editor

I'd really like to get involved with you guys out at the airport. I am the map maker (GIS Analyst) for the City, Richard's desk is one hop over from mine - he recommended that I contact the group. I've been on the wait-list for a hangar for a year now and hope to one day be able to have an ultralight (Legal Eagle XL). Can anyone attend the meetings? I'm 33 years old and rather naive about most things aircraft related, I did 2 years in the Civil Air Patrol, but that's about as far as my knowledge goes. I feel I could learn a lot from the community and I'd like to give-back in any way I can - I am proficient with mapping, media, and crowd funding.

All the best,

Hello Keith, Yes anyone can attend the meetings, come on out. I'm actually a wastewater operator for the city, have a 1/3 share of a Cessna 172. I'd offer a flight but my plane will be down for annual on Saturday. Meetings are every third Saturday and 10ish. Ed is the chapter president, his e-mail is on the front page. You can get ahold of me at
